That lever will open the bottom door that was previously closed, so backtrack to that door and it will have a blue fuse that you will have to shoot. Go through that door and then jump across to the other side and activate the lever that is in the back of the pillar. That lever will open one of two doors on the opposite side of the room, in this case, it will open the upper door. In this lower level, you will have to defeat more scorn and in the back of the room, there will be another lever that you will have to activate.
